17:05- "Japanese tropes (2): Expressions from the Japanese folk tales" We are going to watch some of the most famous folk-tales in Japan in animation, and you will learn some expressions and customs that can become meaningful only with the knowledge of these stories.

18:45- "Obscene No More? A kids’ TV show in the sexless aging society" Using extracts of a children’s TV show from Japan, dr Ota will discuss the apparent loss of sexual nuance from some “vulgar” expressions and its possible connection to Japan becoming a sexless society.

18:45- "Japanese tropes (1): Gattai, Shotakon, Rocket Punch! Reference to Robots, Monsters & Superheroes in everyday Japanese" You will learn some Japanese expressions that cannot be learned by simply looking at a dictionary.
