Report on the activities of theRomance and Slavic Languages Section in the academic year 2019/20

I. TEACHING ACTIVITIES

The following lecture courses were taught in the Department in 2019/20:

Winter semester - 49 groups:

  • French language - levels: A1 (60), B2.2 (60), A1 (45), A2 (45)
  • Spanish language - levels: A1 (60), A2 (60), A1 (45), A2 (45), A1 (30) PhD students, A1 part-time
  • Japanese language - levels: A1 (60), A1 (45)
  • Russian - levels: A1 (60), B2.2, A1 (45), A2 (45), A1 part-time

Summer semester - 53 groups:

  • French language - levels: A1 (60), A1 (45), A2 (45), B2+, A1 part-time
  • Spanish language - levels: A1 (60), A2 (60), A1 (45), A2 (45), A2 (30) PhD students, A1 part-time
  • Japanese language - levels: A1 (60), A1 (45)
  • Russian - levels: A1 (60), A1 (45), A2 (45), B2+, A1 part-time

ON-LINE TEACHING IN THE SUMMER SEMESTER

As of March 11, 2020, due to the pandemic, by decision of the University authorities, classes in stationary form have been

The team worked on different teaching platforms.

The team worked on various platforms for remote teaching:

  • Discord
  • MS Teams
  • Zoom
  • Google Classroom

E-learning materials, e-assessments, and e-tests for the groups were also created and

placed on various educational platforms.

EXAMINATIONS

DOCTORAL EXAMS:

  • 2 doctoral exams in Russian language were held - 14.10.2019, 1 passer and 4.05.2020, 1
  • person passing (online exam).

ERASMUS+ EXAMINATION (21.03.2020, level B2)

  • an on-line exam in Spanish was held, 1 examinee, there was also a planned and
  • prepared on-line exam in French, however, at the last moment the examinee resigned.

NEW COURSE CARDS

  • In connection with the Architecture Department ordering additional lecture courses for second level students, new course cards were prepared for French, Spanish and Russian at A1 level 60h

The lessons are to cover general language with elements of language from the field of architecture.

They are planned for the next academic year.

II. NON-TEACHING ACTIVITIES

XVIII LANGUAGE TOURNAMENT 2019/20:

The first stage - written for the languages of the Department was held on 23.11.2019. and the final oral stage on 14.12.2019.

The following number of students participated in the Tournament:

  • French level B1/B2: 1st stage - 6 students / 2nd stage - 4 students
  • Spanish A2 level: 1st stage - 13 participants / 2nd stage - 10 participants
  • Russian A2 level: 1st stage - 15 students / 2nd stage - 7 students.

LANGUAGE LEARNING EVENT 2020

On 4-18 May 2020 on-line Language Juvenalia entitled "Virtualia Językowe" were held. "Language Virtualia".

During the week of the event our team prepared many interesting activities and attractions for students, including

  • a lecture on the linguistic differences between France and Quebec
  • pandemic quiz, in which 211 people took part
  • a presentation on the regions of France
  • presentation and quiz concerning geography of France, symbols of France, French holidays, French song, symbols of France, French holidays, French songs and the Francophonie in the world.
  • cultural and religious studies quizzes Spain and Latin America at your fingertips
  • a Students' Days quiz on the knowledge of Spain
  • Spain, the Unconventional presentation
  • The World from the Kitchen competition, in which 154 participants took part
  • A Facebook quiz on Spanish inventions and inventors, based on the text Spanish inventions of which you had no idea, written for the Poliglotka Passage
  • workshop Problematic words in Russian for foreigners
  • music classes on Russian rock music and Russian animated films
  • presentations on Japanese culture: Demystifying Sushi and Time which is not One.

In 2019/20, the Team conducted 8 workshops with a total of 285 participants.

III. ADDITIONAL TEAM ACTIVITIES

ACERT SERMO PAID EXAMINATIONS (6 exams):

  • 1 individual exam in Russian at A2 level (4.12.2019)
  • 5 individual exams in Spanish - 2 at B2 level (12.10.2019 and 6.02.2020 ) and 3 at A2 level (14.01.2020 and 2 exams 9.07.2020 )

The team has prepared for revision the new ACERT SERMO oral and written exams in languages:

  • French - levels: A1 and B2.2
  • Spanish - levels: A1, A2, B2.2
  • Russian - levels: A1, A2, B2.2

IV. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

We are constantly improving our workshop. In the year 2019/20 our lecturers took part in training

V. CONDUCTING TRAININGS AS PART OF THE SJO DEVELOPMENT DAYS

ZJRiS lecturers prepared and conducted the following workshops for the Team:

  • 22.05.2020 - Using the Quizizz platform to create tests and quizzes (online workshop on Discord platform).

VI. ACTIVITIES FOR THE COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY AND COOPERATION WITH THE COMMUNITY
