telc Examinations

Telc general language examinations are available for all levels according to CEFR (i.e. from A1 to C2). In addition, examinations for specialised languages, such as academic, technical, business, etc., are offered.

Candidates may also take so-called dual exams, created on two levels: A2-B1, B1, B1-B2, B2 and B2-C1.

Candidates at the A2-B1, B1, B1-B2, B2, and B2-C1 levels may take the Business exam, which is designed for people who want to get proof of their language competence in a variety of contemporary business situations. At B1 level, candidates can also take the Hospitality and Restaurant test, which is designed for those who want to confirm their language competency in this type of environment. telc English B2 Technical and telc English B2-C1 University are also available.

telc examination consists of two parts: written and oral.

The written part tests

  • reading comprehension
  • listening comprehension
  • use of grammatical and linguistic structures
  • writing  an applied text

The oral part consists of three tasks that the two candidates must solve together in the form of an interview.

The written part of the examination is marked by computer at the Central Examination Office in Frankfurt am Main. The written texts are marked in two stages by two different examiners.

The oral part of the examination is marked at the examination institutions by licensed examiners. telc Examiners are qualified teachers of foreign language who obtained the Telc Examiner qualification after completing a two-stage training organized in Poland by the Telc Partner and passing the final exam.

Examination results are available after approximately 5-6 weeks.

After passing the telc exam you will receive a Certificate of Proficiency along with the exam grade. The certificates are printed and sent from the Central Examination Office in Germany. telc certificates are known and recognized throughout the European Union.

It is possible to take the exams in parts (i.e. written or oral) in order to improve your score in B1, B2, C1 and C2 levels. The fee for a partial exam is the same as the fee for an exam consisting of 2 parts.

telc certificates are valid for an unlimited period of time.
