Welcome to Poland

Welcome to Poland is a long-term project created by Polish and English Language Centre for Foreigners, aimed at bringing the culture, tradition and history of our country to students from foreign countries and to youth Poles from abroad. Every year, the organisers prepare a rich programme of events, lectures and tours to places of cultural and historical importance.

The programme includes:

  1. The basics of functioning in the city (getting around the Wrocław University of Science and Technology campus, the Rondo Reagana roundabout, buying tickets, showing the nearest health centre, etc.).
  2. The official welcoming event for the students of the intensive course with refreshments served.
  3. A trip to Częstochowa with young Poles from the East.
  4. A two-day trip to Szklarska Poręba and Karpacz.
  5. Lectures at the National Museum for young Poles from the East – four visits in each semester.
  6. Assisting students who wish to obtain health insurance from NFZ (National Health Fund).
  7. Sightseeing Wrocław (Ostrów Tumski, Runek, University of Wrocław, Aula Leopoldina, Szczytnicki Park, Centennial Hall).
  8. St. Nicholas' Day in student groups.
  9. Christmas Eve for young Poles from the East, organised by the Polish Community Association.
  10. Christmas Eve for listeners of an intensive course organised at Strefa Kultury Studenckiej.
  11. Welcome to spring celebrations combined with the traditional drowning of Marzanna.
  12. Lectures at the Ethnographic Museum, Archdiocesan Museum and Hydropolis – summer semester.
  13. Visiting the Panorama of the Battle of Racławice – summer semester.
  14. A group trip to the ZOO – summer semester.
  15. A trip to the Stołowe Mountains – summer semester.
  16. A four-day trip (Kraków, the Wieliczka mine, Auschwitz, the Tatra Mountains).
  17. A trip to Sobótka and Ślęża – summer semester.
  18. A group visit to the cinema (depends on the repertoire) and to the theatre (free tickets provided by the Polish Community Association).
  19. A cruise on the Odra river.
