Report on the work in the summer semester of the academic year 2016-2017

As part of the project entitled "Raising the competencies of students of the Faculty of Chemistry in response to the needs of the labour market" co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund, the following types of language courses were implemented in the Foreign Language Department of Wrocław University of Science and Technology in the summer semester of the academic year 2016-2017:

Technical English course at B2 level preparing participants for the Mondiale exam. The course lasts 52 hours. In the summer semester 3 groups were formed.

Conversational course in specialist English in the working environment at B1/B2 level . The course lasts 24 hours. In the summer semester 3 groups were formed.

Conversation course in specialist academic English at the C1 level. The course lasts 12 hours. One group was formed in the summer semester. Two further groups have been formed and classes are scheduled for July 2017.

The Mondiale exam after the courses will be held on the following dates:

24 June - written part,

1 July - oral part.

A total of 30 students will take the exam. 

Qualified staff from the English Language Team of SJO PWr were engaged to teach the classes. We would like to thank all the tutors - Magdalena Kondro, Izabela Koszutska, Joanna Leszkiewicz, Dorota Pytel, Alicja Mazurkiewicz, Aleksandra Więckowska and Aleksander Brzózka - for the effort of preparing the programmes and conducting these demanding specialist courses in English.

Special thanks go to the SJO management for providing the infrastructure which enabled the courses to take place in suitable teaching conditions. 

Thanks to the close cooperation with the Faculty Project Manager - Ms Magdalena Furmanek and the English Language Team Manager - Ms Elżbieta Szczawińska, the courses went according to the assumed schedule. As in the previous semester, the courses in the summer semester were highly rated by our students both in terms of content and organisation.
