Foreigners studying at Wrocław University of Science and Technology are subject to the same regulations that apply to Polish students. The central examination consists of two parts - written and oral.
Written exam – duration: 120 minutes. 60 points can be awarded for the written exam. The exam consists of 4 parts:
- Listening part: 2 texts, each played twice – 10 points.
Questions in the form of multiple-choice, true / false (A2 level) or gap filling, open questions (B2 level); - Reading part: 2 texts – 10 points.
At B2 level, one text is covers the area of popular science. Questions in the form of multiple-choice, true / false (A2 level) or gap filling, open questions (B2 level); - grammar part – 20 points.
Different types of questions are given to check grammar and vocabulary (gap filling, open questions and multiple choice questions); - writing part – 20 points.
Two offered topics should be addressed in written form (editing a short communication text: about 60 – 80 words, such as notice, invitation, complaint, cover letter, and a written statement on any topic: about 100 – 150 words).
When assessing the written part, the following elements are taken into account:- adequacy (0 – 8 points)
- composition (0 – 2 points)
- vocabulary range (0 – 5 points)
- language accuracy (0 – 5 points).
In order to take the oral part, the examinee must obtain the required minimum of 35 points from the written part.
Oral exam – duration: 25 minutes. 40 points can be awarded for the oral exam. The oral exam includes: a dialogue between the examinees (20 points) and an individual statement based on one from a set of illustrations (20 points).
When assessing the oral part, the following elements are taken into account:
- content of the message (compliance with the topic of the task, communication skills (0 – 20 points)
- range of vocabulary and grammar (0 – 10 points)
- language accuracy (0 – 10 points).
A minimum of 22 points must be obtained to pass the oral part. The student has the right to resit both the written and the oral part.
Points and grades awarded in the central exam (a maximum of 100 points can be awarded for both the written and the oral part of the exam).
