Regulations for the ACERT certificate examination of the Department of Foreign Languages of Wrocław University of Science andTechnology and SERMO Association

The Department of Foreign Languages (DFL) of Wrocław University of Science and Technology conducts paid ACERT certificate examinations in foreign languages at the following levels:

  • English: B2, C1
  • French: A1, A2
  • Spanish: A1, A2
  • German: A1, A2, B1

ACERT certificate does not entitle students of Medical Department at Wrocław University of Science and Technology to be exempted from language courses.

I. Payment for the certificate examination

1. Not later than 3 days before the planned date of the examination, the candidate should pay for the ACERT certificate examination by bank transfer to the account and should send the payment receipt on egzaminy.info@pwr.edu.pl

In the transfer title please write: the name and surname of the candidate with the note "ACERT exam".

Payment for the examination cannot be transferred to another candidate or to subsequent examination sessions.

II. Registration for the ACERT certificate examination

In order to take the ACERT certification examination, a candidate shall:

  1. Fill in the registration form for the ACERT examination.
  2. Pay the examination fee in accordance with the price list published on the SJO website and send the payment receipt on egzaminy.info@pwr.edu.pl

The registration form can be found on the SJO website.

Persons who do not fulfill the above mentioned conditions will not be registered for the ACERT exam.

III. Time and place of examination

  1. ACERT certificate examinations are held twice a year in November and in May. The certificate obtained in May entitles students to be exempted from the language course in the following winter semester and the certificate obtained in November entitles students to be exempted from the language course in the summer semester.
  2. In justified cases the May date in can be postponed to June and the November date can be postponed to December.
  3. ACERT examinations are currently conducted in a stationary system.
  4. The time and place of examinations are published on the website of the Centre for Foreign Languages: www.sjo.pwr.edu.pl . on the 15 th of November.

IV. Details about the examination

Descriptions of the ACERT examinations offered by SJO model tests, sample tasks for the oral exam, time and place of examination, and price lists are available on the SJO PWr. website.

V. Rules of conducting the examination

  1. The ACERT certificate examination consists of a written and an oral part which take place on the same day.
  2. On the day of the examination, the candidate should appear for the examination 15 minutes before its beginning with a valid identity document with a recent photograph. If you are late, you will not be allowed into the examination room.
  3. During the examination, it is not permitted to:
    - use any teaching aids;
    - use electronic equipment such as mobile phones, tablets, computers;
    - take any materials used during the examination out of the examination room;
    - communicate with other candidates.
  4. During the examination, candidates are allowed to ask questions on formal matters. You must signal your wish to ask a question by raising your hand.
  5. In case of an early completion of the examination, candidates are allowed to leave the examination room before the end of the examination.
  6. If a candidate fails to comply with the guidelines contained in point V of these Regulations, he/she will be disqualified without the possibility of receiving a refund of the costs incurred for the ACERT certification examination.

VI. Complaints and absence during the examination

  1. Any comments related to the exam should be sent to Coordinator for Certificate Exams.
  2. In the case of unexcused absence during the examination, the examination fee is not refundable.
  3. In the case of an excused absence in the form of a medical certificate or other official document, the candidate may take the examination on another date set by the SJO or apply for a refund of the examination fee after a prior deduction of the amount of 50 zł towards administrative costs.

VII. Deadline for issuing the certificate

After 5 working days from passing the certificate examination, the candidate shall collect the ACERT certificate in accordance with the "Rules for Issuing ACERT Certificates of Foreign Language Proficiency". The certificates are kept for the period of four years.

VIII. Protection of personal data and copyrights

  1. All candidates' personal data are protected in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (Journal of Laws 2014.1182).
  2. Examination tasks are protected by copyright and are the property of Wrocław University of Technology.
