LECTURE CYCLE: THE LAND OF ICE AND FIRE
Join us to listen to the first lecture: What happened with the volcano?
On 19 September, Spain held its breath. After 50 years, the long-dormant volcano Cumbre Vieja on the La Palma Island suddenly erupted. It’s been two months since then, yet the lava is still flowing. How are the local inhabitants coping with this situation? Can houses be built on the volcano slopes on the Canary Islands? Is it legal to erect buildings on volcano slopes? What is being done and can still be dome to help the local inhabitants?
