Regulations for the telc certificate examination at the Foreign Languages Department of Wrocław University of Technology

The Foreign Languages Department of Wroclaw University of Technology is a licensed Telc Examination Center and offers students, university staff, civil servants and anyone interested  the opportunity to obtain language certificates at various levels of language proficiency.

We conduct the following telc certificate examinations:

  • English: B1, B2, C1 and dual language exams A2-B1, B1-B2, B2-C1
  • German: A1, A2, B1, B2
  • Spanish: A1, A2,
  • Polish: B1-B2

In addition, candidates may take exams with a professional profile

English language:

  • Business language, A2-B1, B1, B1-B2. B2 ,
  • Hotel and Catering Language B1
  • Technical language B2, and
  • Academic language B2-C1

 German:

  • Business language (beruf) A2+, B1, B2

I. Fees for the telc certificate examination

Not later than 4 weeks before the planned date of the examination, the candidate should pay for the telc certificate examination by bank transfer to the account:

In the transfer title please follow the model:

telc/ language/ examination type/ level/ the name and surname of the candidate 

e.g.   telc / English /dual / B1-B2 /Jan Kowalski

  1. The candidate should register on-line for the examination submitting the original proof of payment,
  2. The price list can be found on the website of the Centre ( link)
  3. Payment for the exam cannot be transferred to another candidate or to the next examination session.

II. Registration for the certificate examination

In order to take a telc certificate examination a candidate should:

  1. pay the examination fee in accordance with the price list provided on the SJO website
  2. fill out the registration form for the telc examination and attach the payment receipt to the form

Candidates  who do not satisfy the above conditions will not be registered for the telc certificate exam

III.  Time and place of examination

  1. telc certificate examinations are held twice a year - in summer semester and in winter semester.
  2. It is possible to organize an additional individual date of the telc certificate examination upon the candidate's request.
  3. It is possible to set an individual examination date for organized groups.
  4. The telc exams are conducted in a stationary system only.

V. Rules of conducting the exam

  1. The telc certificate examination consists of a written and an oral part which take place on the same day.
  2. On the day of the examination the candidate should arrive 15 minutes before the start of the examination with a valid identity document with a recent photograph. If you are late and/or do not have your ID, you will not be allowed into the examination room.
  3. It is mandatory for the candidate to bring a soft pencil and eraser to the exam. Examination sheets must be filled in with a pencil,
  4. During the examination it is not allowed to:
    - use of any teaching aids;
    - use electronic equipment such as cell phones, tablets, computers;
    - remove any materials used during the exam from the examination room;
    - communicate with other candidates.
  5. A candidate shall only be allowed to ask questions on formal matters before the examination begins.
  6. If the examination is completed before time, the candidate shall be allowed to leave the examination room before the end of the examination.
  7. If a candidate fails to follow the guidelines outlined in Section V of these Regulations, he/she will be disqualified without receiving a refund of the examination fee.
  8. In case of failing one of the parts of the examination (written or oral) the candidate may retake the oral or written examination within 12 months of receiving the results from the first attempt at the examination. Single elements of the examination may not be repeated.
  9. The cost of a retake exam is the same as for the first exam, regardless of whether you take the entire exam or only the oral or written part.
  10. the written examinations are marked by computer in Frankfurt am Main and the oral part is marked by SJO PWr examiners.

VI. Complaints and absence during the examination

  1. Any remarks concerning the course of the examination should be sent to the Certification Coordinator not later than within 3 days after the end of the examination at egzaminy.info@pwr.edu.pl.
  2. In the case of unexcused absence during the examination the examination fee is not refundable.
  3. In the case of an excused absence in the form of a medical certificate or other official document, the candidate may take the examination on another date designated by SJO or apply for a refund of the examination fee after deducting the amount of PLN 55 towards administrative costs. A candidate should inform the Certification Coordinator about their absence by phone or e-mail at least 2 hours before the examination starts and then provide an official document justifying their absence within 2 days.

VII. Deadline for issuing the certificate

After about 6-7 weeks from passing the telc certificate exam, the candidate collects the certificate or exam results at the secretariat of SJO

VIII. Personal data protection and copyrights

  1. All candidates' personal data are protected in accordance with the Data Protection Act (Journal of Laws 2014.1182).
  2. All examination materials are protected by copyright and telc GmbH has the exclusive right to dispose of them.
