Project stage XII description

The project encompasses the organisation and teaching  English and Spanish conversation courses with elements of specialist vocabulary for the Lower Silesian Chamber of Architects.

Project objective:

The objective of the project encompassing a cycle of English and Spanish courses is to meet the needs of the Lower Silesian Chamber of Architects members. The courses will allow to improve communication skills using specialist vocabulary, present a professional profile, and interpret specialist literature and documentation.

The project goal is pursued by organising and teaching:

English course

  • vocabulary building in the field of architecture,
  • developing communication skills (topics are related to architecture),
  • developing presentation skills and discussing issues related to a broadly defined architectural industry,
  • developing reading comprehension skills and interpretation of professional literature and documentation,
  • enriching intercultural knowledge.

Spanish course

  • continuation of studying elementary vocabulary and grammar related to everyday communication and essential intercultural issues,
  • training communicative language skills: oral and reading comprehension, speaking, writing and reading.

Project duration, stage 12: 16 October 2025 – 20 February 2026

Teachers: English and Spanish teachers employed at the Department of Foreign Languages of WUST

  • English conversation course with elements of specialist language, level B2/C1 – Renata Kasprzak, MA
  • Spanish conversation  course with elements of specialist vocabulary, level A2 – Joanna Szemet, MA

Where: online, using Zoom or MS Teams

Language placement for course participants: placement test or continuation of the course after the previous project stages.

Stage 12 of the project encompasses:

Teaching specialist English and Spanish courses for the members of the Lower Silesian Chamber of Architects who declared their intention to participate or continue their participation in the language courses with elements of specialist language at B2/C1 level of English and A2 level of Spanish.

Programme of the courses:

B2/C1 English language course

Course contents:

  • The work environment of architects,
  • Sources of inspiration (styles, trends, aesthetics),
  • The future of architecture – new trends, technologies, solutions, needs,
  • Types of buildings and other constructions,
  • Work-related communication (oral and written),
  • Materials, their properties and applications,
  • Presentation techniques and skills.

+ grammar relevant to the topics listed above

Materials:

  • Authentic materials.
  • Teachers’ own materials.

A2 Spanish language course

Course contents:

  • Expressing actions in the past tense – preterito perfecto de indicative,
  • Closed past tense – preterito indefinido de indicative,
  • Work environment, job interview, CV, etc.,
  • Vocabulary related to architecture and construction,
  • Reading comprehension, improving writing and oral communication skills,
  • Improving listening comprehension skills,
  • Grammar topics: past tenses, contrast between the verbs ser/estar, periphrastic constructions, modal verbs, etc.,
  • Developing vocabulary related to: shopping, the internet, commands, linguistic responses, jokes, giving instructions, work environment, the city, travel, etc.,
  • Vocabulary related to IT, social media and new technologies.

  • Authentic materials.
  • Teachers’ own materials.
